Felix Eckstein is Director of the “Department of Imaging and Functional Musculoskeletal Research” at the “Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology” at Paracelsus Medical University Salzburg, Austria. His research is focused on the integration of imaging methods for analyzing the morphology, function and pathology of musculoskeletal tissues, with a focus of disease modification in osteoarthritis.

He studied Medicine in Freiburg, Heidelberg, Bristol, Innsbruck, and Paris, and specialized in Anatomy at Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich.

In 2003, he founded Chondrometrics GmbH, a spinoff company that entertains an ISO 13485 certified quality management system and software product for quantitative analysis of articular tissues.

He was Secretary General of OARSI in 2005-2006, and received the OARSI Clinical Research Award in 2010.
